Kylie Lip Kit Review

Click here for Youtube Review + Try-On Swatches!

I ordered the Kylie Lip Kits when she released her new colors and managed to get 5 out of 6 of them. I didn’t order Mary Jo K because I usually don’t wear red lipstick… but now I wish I had gotten it so I could try it out. The colors I did get were Dolce K, True Brown K, Candy K, Koko K, and Posie K. My favorites are Dolce K and Candy K, these were also the first two to sell out when I ordered.

Formula
The formula of the liquid lipsticks is the best I have tried. I think it’s comparable to the Violet Voss Liquid Lipsticks because both last a long time, without feeling dry on your lips, and go on smoothly. The Kylie liquid lipsticks reach their true color in one application so you don’t need to apply multiple coats. They also dry to a matte finish quickly (I wait about 5-10 mins). One of the best things about the formula is that it doesn’t transfer, so you can drink or eat and as long as you’re not rubbing your lips roughly the lipstick will stay on for hours. The longest I wore it was from 12pm till about 8pm and ate two meals within this time frame and never had to reapply the lipstick. When I drink, I just use a straw and think this helps make the lipstick last longer.
I also did a water test to see how long lasting the liquid lipstick formula is. I put the lipsticks on my hand and washed them with soap and water—and they didn’t come off. The only way they came off easily was when I used a Neutrogena makeup wipe.

The formula of the lip liner is also the best I’ve used. It’s a lot creamier then MAC lip liners and glides on smoothly. I’ve heard the lip liner formula is comparable to the Colour Pop ones, but I’ve personally never tried those so I can’t say. The liners look like they are twist up at first, but actually need to be sharpened. I’ve sharpened a few of mine and had no issues using a generic liner sharpener.

I’ve heard some people say that the lipstick feels drying on their lips but I didn’t have this problem. Before applying it I make sure that my lips are exfoliated and moisturized. This prevents them from being flakey later on. I feel like any matte lipstick will be drying to some degree, and out of the matte lipsticks I’ve used this is definitely the least drying. These matte lipsticks dry to a finish that is very different from MAC matte lipsticks because it doesn’t look like you have an extra layer of makeup on your lips. Even my boyfriend said that it doesn’t look like you’re wearing an extra layer on your lips—if that makes sense.

Ordering Process
The ordering process is very difficult just because the kits always sell out quickly. My boyfriend compared trying to get Kylie’s Lip Kits to trying to get a new Jordan shoe, haha and I agree. You have to make sure to keep updated on her social media to know the release dates. Now she says she will put the release times on her app, but if you don’t have the app don’t worry about buying it because a lot of people will post the release time on her pictures on Instagram. Be online right at the release time and try to be on multiple devices. One time my phone let me onto the site to order but my laptop kept saying it was still restocking for an additional 15 mins.

Another new addition that was made last restock was that you had to create an account to order, when the previous time I ordered I didn’t have to. Kylie’s site said that you had to go to your email and verify it through a link that would be sent, but I never got a verification email until 40 mins AFTER everything had sold out. I tried using multiple email addresses and never got a verification email until it was too late. I noticed others had this problem as well, while some got the verification email right away… so if you’re planning on ordering go online beforehand and set up an account.

Contacting Kylie Cosmetics
I’ve seen a lot of people comment on Kylie’s pictures that they never heard back when they tried getting in touch with someone regarding orders and other issues, but I never had a problem with this. When I ordered I accidently typed a number in my billing address wrong, so I sent an email to the email address listed on Kylie’s Website and got a response from someone within two hours. The second time I contacted them was when I was having issues verifying my account, and that time someone responded by the following day.

Worth It?
For the price I felt that Kylie’s Lip Kits are worth it. They are $29 each so it comes to $14.50 per lip liner and lipstick. This is cheaper then MAC and NARS lipsticks and lip liners and similar in price to the Violet Voss liquid lipsticks (which are $12). The only thing is, is that you don’t have the option to purchase Kylie’s products individually so you have to buy a lip liner and lipstick each time, whereas other brands let you purchase them separately.

If you’re debating about whether or not to try to get the Kylie Lip Kits I say get it! I felt it was well worth the price and lasted a lot longer than I thought it would, meaning I didn’t have to worry about whether it was still on throughout the day, or having to reapply like I do with other brands.
